10 Movies That Were Banned By The Censor Board Of India

Many films are banned based on their sexually explicit content, crude language, substance abuse, or if they have potential to disrupt the harmony of the society.

#1. Fire.

The protagonist duo are named as Sita and Radha. However, the twist here is the relationship that the two women share. They are sisters in law, who eventually fall in love with each other; the movie shows a lesbian relationship.

#2. The Pink Mirror.

Another movie that was banned on the basis of homosexuality. The Pink Mirror also portrayed transsexuals and transgenders in the movie. This was clearly too much for the censor board to digest and it ultimately banned the movie.

#3. Kissa Kursi Ka.

A political spoof movie during the reign of the fourth Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The movie was a satire on the Indira Gandhi government. It must have been anticipated that it’ll receive a vehement and extreme response. The supporters of the political party burned and confiscated the film prints. Ultimately, the film was banned.

#4. Sikkim.

The documentary is produced by Satyajit Ray. The film was banned after Sikkim’s merger in India in 1975, as it showed the Chogyal ruled Sikkim as a sovereign state and portrayed how he felt that the sovereignty of Sikkim was under threat.

#5. Indiana Jones and the temple of doom.

Yes, the famous adventure movie series too did not escape from the clutches of the censor board. This movie depicted Hinduism, Indian culture and traditions in a bad light. The reason was strong enough for the censor board to ban the movie.

#6. Garm Hawa.

The film’s story revolved around a Muslim family during India – Pakistan partition. The film was banned for eight months, as the censor board feared that it might trigger communal riots in the entire country. However, the director was persistent and showed it to different political parties, leaders, government officials etc.; it finally got the nod from the censor board.

#7. Aandhi.

Another film inspired by the politics of the country. However, it does not take a satirical tone, yet it was banned during Indira Gandhi’s reign. The movie is based on the life of Indira Gandhi with her personal life being one of the prime focuses. The movie was banned during the Emergency of 1975, but it was un-banned when the Janata party came to the majority in 1977.

#8. Bandit Queen.

Bandit Queen is a biographical movie based on the life of a famous dacoit, Phoolan Devi. This movie was criticized by Phoolan Devi herself for not being authentic. Another reason for its ban was that the movie had some nude scenes in it.

#9. Paanch

This crime-thriller film is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The reason for this film to be banned is that it glorified sex, drugs, violence and extremely crude language. Even after agreeing to the cuts suggested by the censor board, the film was not released at all.

#10. Final Solution.

Religion in India has always been and is a sensitive issue in our country. Final Solution is a documentary shot by Rakesh Sharma, based on the 2002 Gujarat communal riots. The censor board feared that it would provoke and trigger the riots and hence banned it.

Haryana CM Wants Muslims To Leave Country If They Don’t Stop Eating Beef

Were it just another politician of the country, people would have ignored or laughed at such a remark but when it is a sitting Chief Minister making a comment like this, there are reasons for rational voices to object.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar kicked a hornet’s nest by saying that Muslims can continue to live in this country but they will have to give up eating beef.
The 61-year-old BJP leader was speaking on the beef controversy that has kept both the politicians and the intellectuals of the country preoccupied for over half a year now.
Muslim rahein, magar is desh mein beef khaana chhodna hi hoga unko. Yahan ki manyata hai gau (Muslims can continue to live in this country but they will have to give up eating beef. The cow is an article of faith here),” Khattar was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Palestinians set fire to Jewish holy site; Israeli soldier stabbed

JERUSALEM: Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank set fire to a Jewish shrine near Nablus and stabbed an Israeli soldier near Hebron on Friday as tensions ran high after more than two weeks of violence.

Israel's military said about 100 people converged on the tomb of the biblical patriarch Joseph in the northern part of the West Bank and set parts of it ablaze before Palestinian security forces arrived and pushed them back.

Hours later, a Palestinian posing as a journalist wounded an Israeli soldier with a knife before being shot dead, the Israeli military added. That attack took place near Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied territory.

Reuters television footage showed the Palestinian surrounded by Israeli troops after the attack, rolling on the ground in a florescent yellow vest over a t-shirt marked "PRESS". He was holding a knife in his hand.

Protest in jammu against the Beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

After the protest in moga and other parts of Punjab. Sikh community of jammu and kashmir came on roads and protested against the beadbi of Sikh Holy scriputre "Guru Granth Sahib Ji"

It is notable that the saroop of Sri GuruGranth sahib ji was taken away by unknown persons from jawahar Singh wala , few months back. It was suspected that this saroop was taken away by the followers of anti sikh dera " sacha sauda"
Few weeks ago when politically appointed jathedar had granted pardon to sauda sirsa chief "GURMIT RAM RAHIM in blasphemy case. One poster was pasted outside the wall of Gurudwara sahib of Jawahar singh wala mentioning that they will ruin the respect of sikh guru " GURU GRANTH SAHIB "
So that warning poster is now analysed as a connection to this incident.

Sandeep Gill writing on "RECENT SITUATION IN PUNJAB"

As a Canadian born into a Sikh family from Punjab, India I have experienced times of connection and disconnect towards my homeland, my roots and towards Sikhi. Today has been one of those times of deep empathy, frusteration but most of all a sense of solidarity. There is major unrest in Punjab right now, and almost no media coverage. I've written up what little information I could gather to raise more awareness.
At this time, Sikhs are dying for equality and justice while the world’s media has turned a blind eye to the mistreatment and sheer brutality against Sikhs in Punjab, India. It is up to each individual to raise awareness of the current situation in Punjab between Sikh civilians and the violent actions of the Punjab Police.
On June 1st, Sri Guru Granth Sahib was stolen by a group of unidentified criminals from a gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala, Faridkot. Following an anonymous written letter claiming responsibility for the malicious theft, approximately 112 pages (angs) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were torn and scattered in the streets.
In these past few days of October, peaceful protests consisting of prayers are being conducted across Punjab to show solidarity amongst Sikhs and to call upon the government to take necessary action in making the required arrests. Rather than condemning such an act of sacrilege and hate, the Punjab Police turned on the Sikh leaders and protestors by using physical force, firing guns and water cannons while making unwarranted arrests. Hundreds have sustained injuries and a number of fatalities have also been confirmed.
Sikhs are awakening to the unlawful realities of the current state of affairs and are being brutally punished for exercising their legal democratic rights. The Indian military has been brought in to instill fear in Sikh civilians, however it has not deterred the growing crowd of persevering protestors.
We are a determined and resilient community of nearly 30 million Sikhs worldwide, this is our time to unite and show solidarity to our faithful leaders. Guided by Bibek Buddhi (Discerning wisdom), we must use our force and intellect in the right way.
“No one gives power to anyone else,
Those who take it, take it with their own strength.”- Guru Gobind Singh Ji

Gurmeet Ram rahim interview

Friday 2 October 2015

What style of sikh turban is allowed during driving ? WHY RULES ARE ONLY FOR CIVILIANS ?

This is true, but i am confused with the traffic rule policy in my state ( jammu and kashmir).
This is in reference to an incident happened with my little brother. He was driving his motorcycle and was stopped by police check point at Kunjwani National Highway, a day before yesterday (30 September 2015).
He was asked to show his Bike Documents and his licence . He was carrying all these. But after all inspection Police took out a silly issue of size of turban and made a Chalan showing he was wearing parna .
When i went to police station along with my brother to pay chalan, I asked the Deputy incharge about the size of Parna or turban needed he gave us this answer.
1) there should be a Turban of at least 5 meter size.

I replied : " But my brother was wearing same cloth but with different style like parna and it was 6 meters which is 1 meter bigger than your quoted turban rule.

instead of answering it and making his answer justified he simply ignored me and told me to get answer from COURT.

I don't Understand if the rule applier ( Police) don't know about the rule exactly then how can they accuse someone guilty.
Today me and my brother released BIKE RC from Court after paying chalan . On the way from Gandhi Nagar PCR we were moving to our home we saw a police lady driving scooty without Head Gear ( helmet )
Now what should Police say on this ?
